My 3K Ultra was probably the last one made and it uses an 8877 tube. Prior versions used a 3CX1200D7. The manual was written for the 3CX1200D7 so the tuning instructions, although similar, are not the same. At the moment I have a problem with the servo controller and Rudy is going to fix that and at the same time convert the amplifier to an 8K Ultra. Of course he will have to take it up to Gilbert to do that. In the meantime I am using my Icom PW-1 with my IC-7800. The PW-1 is a nice solid state auto-tune amplifier but is light duty compared to the Henry. What tube(s) does your 3K Classic use? 73 de Joe.

Thanx as the owner of a Henry 3K Classic any information is good to have. What changes did he have as far a tuning? I am well aware that each Henry is an individual! Thanx Gail

I called Henry Radio in Los Angeles and they informed me that they still do repair all their amplifiers but the repair technician usually comes to Los Angeles only once or twice a year. They recommended that I contact Rudy Carrillo in Gilbert. Rudy was one of the amplifiers designers and now repairs any of the Henry Amplifiers as well as others. He also designs and produces commercial and amateur amplifiers. His main business is repair and upgrade of Plasma Systems. In my case he drove from Gilbert to here (about 200 miles one-way) and repaired my 3K Ultra and then showed me how to properly tune the amplifier for best results. The amplifier manual was not all that clear about tuning. I thought that his prices were reasonable. If you are ever in need of such services here is his information:
