If you haven't started using Logbook of the World yet, here's a good reason.
I submitted an electronic application for 15m DXCC on Tuesday evening of
this week - and already received the certificate in the mail today, 3 days
later! Remember when DXCC apps used to take 6 months or more, and you had
to send in cards and hope they didn't get lost? My 15m app was based solely
on electronic QSL's, so no cards were sent, all it took was a few mouse
clicks. I can add card QSL's to my record later for the few entities that
don't yet use LoTW, but these days most of them do. All of the contacts for
my award were made in the past couple of years.
BTW I still greatly prefer a paper card for looking at, nothing more fun
than getting mail and a card from an exotic locale, but when it comes to
awards paperwork you can't beat the electronic systems.
Also - eQSL has upgraded their awards programs, they now have band- and
mode-specific awards available. But not as many DX'ers are using eQSL as
far as I can tell.
