Ok. Even I got into K5D's log.

  I did it Bernie's way.

Got up for a nature break around 0255L. Then went into radio room to see if they were on. They were on with a good OP running JAs and other Asians. The JAs were quite loud at my QTH. K5D was a good solid S9 (I have a fairly Scotch meter 100 uV = S9 - old school settings).

So I decided to see if they could hear well. I dialed my power down to 5W at the feed point of the antenna (18" off the ground - antenna is a square loop of 2" aluminum tubing 12' on a side). I called once. They worked a loud JA. I called the second time. They called me. Whole thing took less than 5 minutes from application of power to the rig.

I should be in their log for 1006Z 23 FEB 2009. No problem with them copying my call. Forty was nice and quiet - S0 at my place.

Does 5W count as actual QRP?

I checked just now and they haven't uploaded anything past 22 Feb yet.

  73, Eric N7CL
