Wes I had a very similar thing happen last night. At 0734 they logged me as
W7RK. They could not seem to hear my prefix despite several attempts.
That just made me more determined and at 0759 I did get in the log (I
hope!), they had switched to simplex on 1.852 by then because there were few
stations still around.
They really spent most of the time prior to that last night working EU and
others, stateside had to wait patiently.
I'm also amp-less and using just a scratch above a wet noodle for the
antenna on 160.
Great to see all the SADXA activity with this one, good job everybody!

Good job.
Without an amp and the antenna almost touching the ground I was happy to get
K5D.

By the time you worked them they must have been pretty punchy.
I worked them last night about 12:30 local after they had run Europe for a
while. The band was pretty quiet at that time. It was also good. He stopped
to ask where I really was as I was 30/ at that time. I had stopped to work
them from working the contest on 160.
The band was pretty good last night. I worked 35 countries with quite a few
Euros. The Caribbean was very strong around midnight.
