All RVRC Membership,
I've been contacted by members regarding suspicious E-Mails.
It appears the club's membership list got hacked/released recently. Sadly, this is something that is not new to the Internet and E-Mail services. While a lot of info is already readily available on the internet, the hack is that they can use the info on our own people to attempt to leverage them. As indicated by Jim a little while back, the password to our members area has been changed and disseminated.
An example is that you get an E-Mail (bogus) from Jim indicating that our "Treasurer" Mike needs a payment for the "RVRC" and to please respond to the E-Mail...
If you receive any questionable E-Mails from members do your due diligence...
* Do NOT respond to THAT E-Mail.
* Look to see who the sender is... It may say Jim however, the actual E-Mail is NOT his.
* If the E-Mail suggests anything like payments or contacting them and you aren't sure, CALL them or reach out to the member by other means than THAT E-Mail.
* Delete the suspected bad E-Mail and empty your TRASH folder to remove it from your account.
Hope that helps and remain vigilant! Hope to see everyone at tomorrow's meeting!
