My old MFJ-1235 power supply died. Using the Samlex 1235 the rig kept crashing (RF maybe). Now on battery at 75w on 14.074 doing well! FT8 rocks!Sent from my Galaxy

Suddenly, after 26 contacts (not too busy) the amplifier kicked off with a high SWR message. I tried it directly from the K3 and it returned high SWR as well. I switched to 15 meters and got the same result.  I put my antenna analyzer on it and it showed an open circuit.  I checked over the coax indoors no problem, walked the coax outside, no problem. Felt there was not great need for 40 meters (different antenna (I have been having a problem with my dipole, had a friend come over and the analyzer needs repair)) since 10 meters was still open and everyone was there. Any way, since the coax is buried I thought maybe an animal had chewed through it. I put the analyzer in TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer). Showed a short at the connector near the output of the amplifier. Removed the other end and it showed the short was about 7 feet away, just the length of the cable.  I am replacing the cable connector as I type. Since the cable is RG-9, which is double shielded RG-8 it takes a specialized connector, slightly larger than a standard PL-259.  Years ago I bought three of the connectors from a fiend of mine.  Murphy is alive and well but I am having a little bit of luck.On the other hand, my satellite station elevation rotator is stuck in the down position. Unfortunately I will have to dismantle every thing to fix it.Oh well, HAPPY PI DAY!!!Don, AK2SOn 3/14/2024 10:01 AM, Ben Cahill wrote:> Thanks, I did not realize that!> > Will do.> > -- Ben, AC2YD --> > On 3/14/24 09:45, John Pugh wrote:>> Don’t forget, when operating with a special event call sign like N3P >> you must identify with your own call sign at least once per hour.>>>> 73,>> John WJ3P>> —->> John E.
