I think we should strike while the iron is hot, and hope that no further complications arise.

Members,

As we have been working with planning for this year's W2QW HAMFEST, we have

hit some "stumbling blocks".

1.      The Piscataway BOE has indicated that Piscataway High School

graduation is currently set for June 17. There is a potential for losing the

19th due to weather cancellations of graduation and necessity to move their

dates which could cause RVRC to lose the 19th at the last minute. (They

reserved the right to cancel any prior reservations based upon their needs.)

2.      Piscataway BOE has not yet confirmed their graduation exercises so

that a reservation can not be guaranteed at this time

3.      Consideration for the following Saturday is not good due to FIELD

DAY WEEKEND (June 26th ~ 27th).

4.      The next following Saturday falls on 4th of July weekend and is a

definite no-no

5.      Which leaves us with an open JULY 10th.

6.      There are currently no 2021 ARRL SANCTIONED HAMFESTS on ARRL

schedule except FAIRLAWN on April 24th.  So that we have an open field AT

THIS TIME to select a hamfest date.

7.      My personal recommendation is to secure JULY 10th which will be

clear of potential hazards as mentioned. (it will also be further along in

our battles with COVID-19 which reduces the chances of that interference.)

So, does any club member have any objections, comments or recommendations to

change this year's hamfest to July 10th?

P.S. Several radio clubs are already contemplating delaying their hamfests

until late summer/early fall.
