[RVRC] 2021 W2QW hamfest, important

Hello members,

 

We must begin to discuss and consider this year's HAMFEST.

 

Rich, W2PQ, has received word from Piscataway Board of Ed. That there may be
a conflict that would prohibit RVRC from utilizing the HighSchool parking
lot for out hamfest on our normal date, June 19th (week before field day).

 

It seems that the district ends their school year/graduation on June 17th.
They have explicitly stated that 1.) they could not provide confirmation at
this time due to considerations by the BOE that have yet to be made.  2.) if
any changes

Need to be made to their schedule (i.e., covid-19, etc.) we would lose any
reservations.

 

They suggested the following Saturday which, as you may know, is ARRL FIELD
DAY weekend, so that is not a good consideration.

 

The next weekend is open..July 3rd.  There are NO HAMFESTS SANCTIONED FOR
THIS YEAR except Fairlawn on April 24th.   

 

If we act now, we will have secured that Saturday for our ARRL sanctioned
hamfest.  We must give 3 months prior notice of hamfests if we want that
included in QST's list for publication.

 

QUESTION;  are there any comments about changing the date of our hamfest
FOR THIS YEAR due to these current constraints?  Any problems? Objections?

 

These are the benefits of the change.....better chance of having the parking
lot at the Pisc. HS and further along with the recovery from COVID-19 for
reduced risk of a COVID-19 cancellation.
