Good day all,
Updates on Dad are very much the same. Uneasy progress.
I say that to mean, though there are daily challenges with swelling, medicine balance etc, every day seems to be a little better than the last.
Drew has his phone and is possibly able to receive your emails and texts when he’s feeling up to it.
Medically there have been challenges, but his team seem to be pleased with his progress.
I am on travel with limited access to internet.
I’ll send relevant updates and your regards. Please feel free to share these updates with your respective organizations.
Dad is at RWJ, room 256 last I checked, and can receive cards etc.
Below you can read a recent update from my Veronica:
GM, I spoke with Drew’s overnight nurse this morning, he had a quiet night.
When I left at 9, he had eaten, (regular diet), and was in and out of sleep His heart rate has been erratic for the last 2 days but with meds it is slowly coming into range and trying to stabilize. I’m told this is not abnormal. His BP was normal overnight, but even that has been an issue. He has a lot of swelling in his right arm that is being watched and kept elevated. Yesterday they inserted a new shunt to have access to blood samples when necessary which is sometimes twice a day. This makes various needle sticks easier. The surgeon says the surgery was successful but it’s the aftermath we are managing.
He is in room 256 on the Cardiac floor. Barbara im not sure yet if he can have flowers or plants in the room, I haven’t seen any in other rooms . I’ll ask today. Maybe ask family members to send cards for the time being. It may brighten the room, make it look less medical. He has his phone and prefers text & emails over calls.
I’m doing ok, resting, eating and know you are sending love and prayers to both of us (Lola too 😀, she misses him).
