Subject: VoIP Hurricane Net
Good morning,
Some of the best training you can get is listening to a well run emergency Net. Listening to the VoIP Hurricane Net, the Maritime Mobile Service Net and the Hurricane Watch Net will give you a great deal of information on how to properly run and participate in an emergency Net.
As Sub-Tropical Storm Alberto nears landfall in Florida, Mississippi and Alabama, you can listen to emergency Nets on EchoLink and IRLP. The VoIP Hurricane Net has Listen-Only nodes. The primary Listen Only node on EchoLink is Node 9123. You can also listen on any of the other Listen-Only nodes on the list below. These nodes have been set up so that those in affected areas and those running Net Control operations can do so without other operators accidentally transmitting during an active Net. Here is the list:
IRLP:
Reflector 9553 Adelaide Australia Reflector channel 3.
Reflector 9123 New England Reflector channel 3 and/or Reflector 9129 New England Reflector channel 9 (Currently using IRLP 9123)
EchoLink:
*NEW-ENG3* Node: 9123 (when not in use for local SKYWARN in New England)
*VKEMCOMM* Node: 270177
*KA1AAA* Node: 269929
*KC4QLP-C* Node: 290251 (at discretion of the node owner)
*N5API* Node: 77433 (at discretion of the node owner)
The Maritime Mobile Service Net operates on 14.300 MHz USB. The Hurricane Watch Net operates on 14.325 MHz USB.
You should hear more activity on these Nets over the next 3-4 days.
