Yes they still run the daily net excluding Saturday.If your antenna 
loads ok with good SWR you should do just fine. A good antenna that has 
gotten very popular and cost little to build is the W3EDP antenna(see 
attached). The 450 ohm ladder line is only 17' and is very suitable for 
using with the 31' Jackite pole mast. The additional length of wire 
needs only to be 56" and doesn't require a counterpoise. You'll need a 
4:1 balun which are available everywhere. You might even have one from 
when W4RT was giving them away (LDG) free a few years back. If you're 
running QRP there always the PAR/LNR end fed antennas or EARCHI end 
feds. Both if connected with 25'  of coax need no further counterpoise.
