Subject: FCC Enforcement Bureau shut down
I am sure that everyone is now aware of the FCC's recent proposal to close
the majority of the FCC's Enforcement Bureau Field Offices and reduce the
staffing of the FCC EB Field Agents from 66 to 33.
In my option, the proposal is severely misguided and if implemented, will
cause additional major problems for all of us who are broadcast (and
communication) engineers or Amateur Radio Operrators and are involved in the
process of emitting RF and work diligently to keep the interference to a
minimum to those that receive our signals on a daily basis. After over 45
years of personally locating and fighting interference, I certainly don't
need additional impediments by the very government agency, who job is to
help perform this function.
A few persons wrote and published excellent articles. For those who have
not read them on the ramifications of the proposed closures, I recommend
they read and review them.
This coming Thursday, June 11, Representative Greg Walden, Chairman of the
U.S. Congress House Communications Subcommittee will chair a hearing with
the FCC's Managing Director Jon Wilkins on the "hot seat" attempting to
explain their reasoning for proposing such a move. For what it is worth, I
know that Representative Walden knows the ramifications of the FCC's
proposed actions, as he, himself is a radio station owner and amateur radio
licensee.

Click on the above link and take a couple of minutes to read the above
article.
If you believe that the proposed closing of the Enforcement Bureau's Field
Offices is a misguided idea, it is important for YOU to take a few minutes
to compose an short email on the subject to explain your concerns and send
your email to Representative Walden's two Congressional staffers, who are
advising him of your feelings on the matter. Ray Baum is Representative
Walden's staffer in his D.C. office and Risa Wonsyld is located in his
Oregon office. Those two staffers and their email addresses are:
Ray.Baum at mail.house.gov
Risa.Wonsyld at mail.house.gov
If you will take a minute to email both staffers above, we can get this
misguided proposal killed off, before it gets totally out of control. As
many of you know, the FCC answers directly to Congress and their funding is
directly tied to what Congress mandates that they do.
Your efforts in this matter is appreciated.
By the way,. I have listed all of the members of the House Communications
Subcommittee below. If you have extra time, it would help to forward your
email to as many members on the list below as you can.
