I was a fire captain and was also a fire inspector as well.
The NJ Fire Code includes some of the violations I'm pointing out.

Although we all had a good time, I just want to point out a few things I observed..

For the size of the room we were over loaded, The most people in a room 
that size is about 16 people and the waiter (waiters) are included in that number.

There were no smoke or fire detectors
There were no fire extinguishers
There were no battery fire exit signs
There was only one way to exit. (supposed to be Two)

In general I think the whole place was overloaded.
I just think it was not a safe environment, there were most likely 
other violations as well.
