The technical committee reported at the December meeting that the 440 repeater had lost the power amplifier portion and that the amplifier was being looked at to see if repairs could be made. Unfortunately the amplifier has gone to RF heaven and cannot be resuscitated. The 440 machine remains on the air minus the amp so power levels are significantly reduced (below coordination level).

A discussion at the meeting also reviewed the possible acquisition of a Yaesu Fusion system at a heavily discounted promotion price of $500.00. Members in attendance approved the purchase of 1 unit. There was some discussion about obtaining a 2nd unit before the Yaesu promotion ends on 12/31/2015, however the club funds are not deep enough to handle a second machine right now.

The Fusion system supports either 2M or 440, analog, digital C4FM and APRS.
Members that have been on nearby machines were very enthusiastic about audio quality, a very easy to use digital mode and more.

This brings me to the point of the email.

Paul, KC2VRJ, has acquired 25 pieces of computer monitor equipment from his work company with their permission to sell these monitors as a fund raising opportunity for the radio club.

Here's the deal:

A 17" Monitor with built in speakers, most are HDMI and the rest have DVI interfaces along with traditional computer inputs.

These monitors are various brands - - - all are very clean and working.
The monitors were used in bank offices for video security monitoring and as terminals in other security applications.
The price will be $50 per monitor.

The bank will get 1/2 and the club gets 1/2 so this is a great fund raising opportunity to help with our 440 amplifier needs and possibly a second Fusion system.

An amp for 440 that has the proper power capacity is approx. $1000. A second Fusion system needs another $500. We are looking at other items in the club collection to see what might generate some cash - - - stay tuned. Unfortunately the Fusion deal ends soon so any help would be appreciated

If you are interested in a monitor - please email Paul --- KC2VRJ at gmail.com with any 'orders'.

If you are not in the market for a monitor but would like to support the hardware acquisition effort, please feel free to contribute whatever you can by sending a few bucks to Treasurer Ann, KD2DUK.

Mark your contribution "New Equipment Fund" so it can be tracked separately from dues and other monies.

Friends, we are trying to freshen things up and bring in some new things to generate more interest and usage

Thank you for your support
