Members,
Additional information on Stolen radios:
The number of stolen radios at Firehouse locations in Hunterdon and
Somerset Counties h is close to 30 units at this time. The type of
radios stolen have been Motorola 2500 radios value at approximately
$3,500 apiece.
There is some suspicion that there may be some inside involvement.
Certain sites have been targeted and hit multiple times. The stolen
radio serial numbers have been removed from their respective talk
groups. There have been instances where the Mandown feature was
activated causing entire trunks to be compromised. The FBI has been
called in to handle the investigation.
If you visit any hamfest or see any instances of these radios being
offered for sale please notify the authorities and Doug Rue, W2EN.
Doug's information is shown below. Please take the time to read the
contents of the following thread.

Hello Drew,

Somehow my message on Friday night did not
get delivered.

Attached again is the information concerning the additional
radios which were stolen in Hillsborough last weekend.
These radios are in addition to the units
  stolen in
Hunterdon County recently.

Feel free to give me a call if there are any further
questions at 908 963-5349.

Okay, glad you received it this time.

This is the 3rd time that radios have been stolen from
this FD in the last month
or so, making a total of
10 portables total. On the earlier units, there were
some instances of intentional interference before the
units were removed from the trunking system
master computer (using mandown as well
as key down on a number of talk groups).

The Hunterdon radios could not be turned off
remotely since they were not on a trunking radio
system.

Based on the total value at this point ($35,000)
I am sure the PD will be placing more effort on
the investigation.

Regards,
Doug
