The RVRC workday on September 20 that was announced at our September business meeting (and earlier by email to this list) was very successful.
We had 9 participants working from about 9 AM through late afternoon on Saturday with additional work on Sunday and Monday afternoons. The team did a great job cleaning up the hill area around the club tower and the shed with lots of 'weed trimmers' and 'blowers' being used to give the area a very nice fall clean up.
Susan was VERY happy with the results.
This was a great 'good neighbor' effort to support our club's host.
In addition to the yard cleanup, we made very significant progress on the radio shed project.
The list of major tasks completed include:
Full insulation of the shed using a 2 part spray on foam product. The foam material more than met the expectations for a 2 inch R11 equivalent. We probably got more like 3 inches in most spots so the shed will be nice and cozy. The material is very hard after curing so we may be able to leave portions uncovered (the roof for example) to keep our costs down.
Electrical work was completed to bring 4 more circuits into the panel box to eventually power up to 3 radio rack circuits and a separate circuit for the roof fan.
"Box out" work was completed prior to the insulation spray work to provide entry points for the Coax Access Pass Through panel and any supporting ground anchor point equipment.
Lots of cleanup after the insulation job.
Unscheduled follow up work on Sunday and Monday by a few members included:
Removal of insulation over-spray from the wall studs, floor and wall headers, electrical boxes and general cleanup in preparation for any wall finishing at a later date.
Belt sanding of the entire floor to prepare for sealing
Sealing of the floor with 2 coats of a durable floor paint
The participants for these efforts included
Jim Nannery - KC2ZXP
Anna Nannery - KD2 DUK
Paul Nannery - KC2VRJ
Bruce Nadler - KC2YSF
Pete Fiero - KD2ARB
John Erdek - K2KPA
Alan Wolke - W2AEW
Dave Robinson - KG2AE (our newest club applicant)
Craig Saums - AC2FE
A rough estimate of work hours is approximately 65 to 70 man hours across 3 days.
I personally want to thank everyone for their commitment to making the workday(s) a success.
Thank you to all that participated
