[RVRC] Win System Tech net

The net that Pete wants to use on Friday evenings is going to be managed by him on an "ad-hoc" basis. We cannot put this on the 440 without managing other links. The 440 is linked to the 900 and the N1DOT system.

The idea that Pete brought to me was to encourage more participation from members and most members have 2M systems rather than 440. For those reasons, the Friday activity will be on 2M. Pete will set it up and take it down when he is available to manage it. The linking requires DTMF access tones so the 2M system is better for this trial.

Any full member can use the linking capability on either machine as long as we don't interfere with other linked systems. Since this is new, this is how we want to run it for a while to try it out. Emergencies will always take precedence so there is really no difference which repeater is used for this activity.

Thank you
Craig

To all,
A thought occurred to me when Drew had mentioned the ''Tech Net'' when Eric was around. Well, in keeping with the desire that Eric had to generate more use on 442.250, how about having that ''Tech Net'' on Friday but have it on 442.250! ???? It's only one hour long and It just may be something that the network which the 442.250 repeater is linked into would even like the idea!! ??
As Craig pointed out, the Gent who runs that 'network' is extremely knowledgeable and might even join in with interesting and educating information! Maybe??
Optionally, the link could be disabled for the one hour!

It is open to all that wish to ask him something pertaining to Ham Radio and he can answer the basic questions or on the most advanced subjects. No, he's not a Gordon West or the ultimate foremost authority in Ham Radio, but knowledgeable and holds his own. I have listened to other tech nets through the years and most of them are very self contained and not into outsiders being involved. Not so here.

There would be no linking for this as we do on Sunday nights. This net would air 22:00 hrs on Friday night and would last for just an hour. Yes...the hour is kind of late, but we are talking West coast time. At the end of the net, the 2 meter repeater will be disconnected and returned to normal local amateur use with sleep mode enabled and available for use at 0400.
