[RVRC] FW: It’s Time for Weekend Update

For the repeaters we should not change it from PL tone access. That's how it's listed in the repeater books and advertised on our flyers. I have yet to hear a complaint from anyone that knows how to use those reference sources to program their gear. We would be doing the hobby a disservice to change it; tone access is tone access. Our directions are pretty direct on the website and on the flyer. If it's not broken why tempt fate.

Drew

Hi Marv,
I have PL tone control programmed on my HT for both repeaters. Carrier squelch should not be required as the repeater doesn't usually open without a signal present. (I'll check it again).

Fellas,
I would like to propose that, for the hamfest on Saturday, the technical committee switch off TONE ACCESS (PL) and run CARRIER SQUELCH access on both repeaters for the many who will not be able to set or change their tone code. We have done this in the past and when we have not, I have heard some complaints but, nonetheless, let's make it easy to call for directions.
(ie., Chinese handheld users and commercial HT users.)

73,
Marvin
