For those of you who had the opportunity to attend the Centennial
National Convention last week, I hope you enjoyed yourselves. You were
indeed part of history in the making! And I hope you had the chance to
attend the Banquet and heard an amazing endorsement of Amateur Radio by
FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate KK4INZ. Perhaps you were one of over
400 who attended the Wouff Hong ceremony Friday night. All in all, it
was an amazing event.

I’m just home from the Convention and the July Board meeting. I’ve
over 300 e-mails to plod through and much to do to catch up. But most
important is the campaign to get H.R. 4969, “The Amateur Radio Parity
Act of 2014” cosponsors we need to get this off the ground. So
far we have commitments from seven Representatives, but we still need
more.

Last week I sent a request to the Division and asked each of you to
“cut and paste” a suggested e-mail to your local Congressional
representative (feel free to adapt your own language to it). If you
have not yet done so, it is imperative that you do that now, today.
We are getting static from the opposition and this will be an uphill
battle.

At the convention, we collected nearly 1500 hard copy letters that will
be hand carried to congressional offices by our D.C. consultants. You
should also print out a copy of that letter and mail it to the ARRL.
The letter can be found by going to: http://www.arrl.org/hr-4969. Read
all the information. You can find a sample letter. Make certain that
you complete it and mail it to:

ARRL
Attn: HR 4969 letter campaign
225 Main St
Newington, CT 06111

DO NOT MAIL IT TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE!!!

Mail security is tight and it takes a long time for mail to get to its
intended recipient. We will hand-deliver the letters which is a much
more effective way to get them there.

Folks, this is our time and our chance to get PRB-1 extended to those
living under deed and covenant restrictions. Please, please, please participate in
this.

I will be in Washington again next week espousing the cause. Wish me
luck!
