[RVRC] FW: Radio help

Knowing where the dead spots are would be helpful. The most economical
solution would be to raise the transmitting antenna in Piscataway. How about
a repeater on the firehouse up the hill. Encripted in, encrypted out.

Subject: [RVRC] FW: Radio help

Members,
I didn't expect to find this request for assistance in my inbox this
morning. As many of you know we had a great relationship with the Dunellen
municipality for a considerable number of years and that community put the
W2QW hamfest on the map as the one to go to in central Jersey.

Dunellen and Piscataway are encryptic systems now and both have dead spots.
I would like to see some dialogue in the local ham community as to how we
can assist in any way. If anyone is interested in exploring a solution
please chime in by responding.

73,
Drew

This may be far fetched, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I am former councilman James Ashworth of Dunellen and was responsible for
our Police Department for roughly 8 years. Since I left council the town
has put in a radio system to allow Piscataway to be our dispatchers.
However, the police and fire are claiming there are dead spots within the
town creating a safety issue. My idea is to reach out to your club for
help. The radio companies will just want to sell us more equipment which we
really can't afford. I was hoping your group could come up with some
suggestions on how to open up these dead zones without a great investment,
or maybe take it on as a community service project.
Your knowledge and tricks could save the tax payers of Dunellen money.
It would also be great press for your organization.
If you are not interested, I will understand that as well, but I at least
have to reach out and try.
Thank you.
Jim Ashworth
Dunellen, NJ
