Thank you for your cooperation during the upgrade work on Tuesday.

The new automatic switching equipment has been installed. These devices are known as EZ Gate 80 switches by Hamsource. The backup batteries are charging again and should be back to full capacity soon. There is one unit managing the 440 radio. The second unit is managing the 2m machine and the control computer.

The EZ Gate switches are rated at up to 80 amps carrying capacity. The devices trickle charge the batteries during normal street power operation and switch to battery backup automatically when line power is lost. These units replaced similar but lesser ampacity units that had some problems with overheating (West Mountain Radio Powergate 40's) due to our configuration.

Please remember that the batteries will only provide reserve power for a few hours. Long term outages (like during Hurricanes Irene and Sandy) will still provide challenges.

Craig is working on the back up power this afternoon. There may be times
that the repeaters will be off the air for a short while.
