A side note: we need a few volunteers for this event. If the 6:30 a.m. start time is too early, 8 a..m. would also work! The earlier time was suggested so as to have the time to be briefed on the task. Volunteers will not be required to move with the parade and will be stationary at points along the parade route.
Following the parade, lunch will be provided at a nearby pizza shop for radio communications volunteers!

Members,
Each year South Plainfield holds a Labor Day parade through town. It's a sizeable event with much activity. The newly formed SPARC (South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club) under SP-OEM, performs radio communications during the 5 K footrace, held prior to the parade and during the parade.
We are seeking amateur radio communications volunteers with 2 meter handheld radios to help with providing communications.
Labor Day, September 1st.
Start time 8 a.m. (5K foot race)
End time 12 p.m. (approx.) for the parade which follows on the foot race course immediately following the end of the foot race.
The task will be to report/relay runners and parade participant's locations along the parade route and any urgent or routine messages required.
Please contact me, Marv Bronstein-K2VHW, if you are able and willing to help out.

P.S. There's a fun family event at the end of the parade with vendors, food and activities if you bring your family along.
