Hi fellow RVRC members,
Just an interesting ''happening'' this morning; there was a super ''band opening'' on both VHF and UHF this morning. I turned on my monitor and heard a net operating on 442.250 with full ''S'' meter readings. So I opened the tone-squelch and listened to a 'net' operating from NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA. (W3DI). This repeater (442.250) was also linked to 147.195 which I also ''copied'' full quieting on my monitor with only a ''rubber-duck'' antenna!!!
While monitoring another frequency, I also monitored another net operating in Dover, DE on 146.970.
So, the VHF/UHF bands were ''hot'' this morning and I suspect either it was ''tropo'' or cold-front related propagation. I didn't have an antenna up to listen for 6 meter signals but I'll bet it was ''hot'' as well for north/south propagation.
The signal levels from the Newtown, PA repeater on 442.250 was astoundingly strong and was strong competition for our own repeater with strong heterodyning.

P.S. Fall season is a great time for such openings...........keep an 'ear on' for opportunities to hear/work some ''DX''. The ARRL VHF contest is coming up later this month as well!!!
