OOOPS!
I stand corrected! Drew is absolutely correct.
Those who have upgraded DO have the privilege to operate with their new
class privileges providing they upend the appropriate suffix....i.e., /AG
.../AE.
Only NEW license applicants can not operate and callsign changes will not be
valid until notified by FCC or on the FCC web site (now down).
My apologies for my error.
Once again, renewals that have been submitted PRIOR to the shut-down are
considered valid. For those who have licenses expiring during the shut-down
and have not yet filed for renewal, this is a personal call as to operating
after expiration. It is unlikely that the FCC will have time, personnel nor
facilities to observe amateur operations during the shut-down but that
doesn't mean a complaint could be filed for operation after expiration by
someone and it remains unclear if any action might be taken at the
non-functioning FCC!
My suggestions; use good judgment and as always, use proper operating
practices!
73,
Marvin
