Dear RVRC members,
I was going through the meeting minutes on the members only page recently and was quite disappointed at the suggestion made by John K2KPA in the June meeting minutes under new business that we raise the dues next year.
"New Business: John, K2KPA suggested we consider a dues
increase for next year. Jim KC2ZXP said he will check the bylaws and explain
the procedure at the next meeting"
We are already paying the highest dues out of the several clubs I have researched online and will list below. If we raise the dues we are in danger of further alienating promising new members from joining and losing even more members from our updated dwindling count of 72 full and associate members. The other clubs have thriving membership because their dues are lower, they do more than just a once a year hamfest to raise funds and they are putting themselves out there in the public eye and bringing more people into the hobby and into THEIR clubs. We need to take lessons from other clubs because they are obviously doing something right and we aren't. Is imposing an increase on the already too high membership fee on already financially strained members on fixed incomes and lower paying jobs the answer? I am asking the club officers and the voting members to vote no on a dues increase.
