The DOT announces a Rt. 206 resurfacing project in parts of Montgomery and Hillsborough
8/20/2013
The state Department of Transportation has announced a project to resurface almost six miles of Route 206 in both directions in parts of Montgomery and Hillsborough. The $3.7 million project will resurface 206 with a new surface asphalt from just south of Bridgepoint Road in Montgomery to Doctors Way in Hillsborough, skipping over the new bridge over the CSX rail line. The DOT says the project will improve motorist safety and extend the pavement lifespan. New image detection cameras will be installed at certain intersections to replace the existing, underground loop detectors. The cameras are linked to traffic signals.
All travel lanes will be maintained during peak period hours while the construction proceeds. Repaving work requiring single-lane closures---with alternating traffic patterns---will be done daily between 9-am and 3-pm AND overnight between 7-pm and 6-am...8am on Saturdays. Access to all businesses and residences along Rt. 206 will be available.
