The state DOT has announced plans for two major resurfacing projects in Central Jersey, including a busy stretch of Route One in Edison. More than four miles of Route One Northbound in Edison will be redone from just south of Woodbridge Avenue – right after the Morris Goodkind Bridge - all the way up to near Route 287. Milling and paving for the $3 million project will begin later this month. Single and double-lane closures will be scheduled at night.
A second project will do similar work on a stretch of Route 28 in both directions in Bound Brook, Middlesex and Dunellen. That will stretch from near Vosseller Avenue in Bound Brook, through Middlesex, and Dunellen to near the Plainfield border. That project – at a cost of $2.3 million – should begin in early August, with lane closures saved for overnight hours. It also will include new image detection cameras at lights to let them know to change, replacing older underground loop detectors
