Members of RVRC,
The Piscataway Township OEM has finally commenced to remediate the mold
problem at the PARC meeting location in the basement of the Municipal
building. The problem has existed since 2007. Once the mold is remediated
PARC will be able to resume using the facility as a meeting location.
However, any equipment that is to be saved has to be removed completely from
the site by this Saturday so the place can be cleaned thoroughly. I visited
the site today and spoke with the OEM representative and the insurance agent
supervising the cleanup.
The agent will provide us with boxes, markers, and mold removal wipes to
wipe down our equipment before removal. Everything must be wiped down before
it can be removed. After removal they will scrub everything (Walls, floors,
etc). After that phase the equipment can be returned. The booths that housed
the equipment will be demolished and removed.
We need help removing the equipment which is comprised of a number of
radios, power supplies, amp and items used for field day operations. The
biggest problem is getting the equipment up some steep stairs. If we had
enough bodies we could for a human chain and easily move the equipment. If
anyone can help us for a few hours this Saturday it would be greatly
appreciated. We plan on meeting at 10 AM at the municipal building at the
intersection of Hoes Lane and Sidney Rd in Piscataway. The entrance to the
room is via a stairway at the base of the antenna. The air downstairs is
very breathable because they have large blower/vacuums with Hepa filters
installed and they have been operating all week to quickly remove any spores
that may be airborne. We will have mask and disposable gloves.
Please let me know if you can help in any way this Saturday morning.
