No GOOD excuse, John, but here's a lame one:  I was teaching a class all
day, preoccupied with getting out on time to catch my flight to Dulles last
night and never even peeked at my calendar.  I mentioned on 7.222 on Monday
that Tuesday was your birthday, then totally forgot to follow up myself!
