Subject: [ETS/PARC List] New Website (BETA) / April Meeting / Show & Tell /
220 Machine
Good Morning,
For those of you who missed it we had a very productive meeting this past
Friday. Among topics discussed:
New Website (BETA):
Gene - KC2WDZ has started development on a new club website - www.k2ets.com
- if you go to the site you'll notice that Gene has made significant
progress . Gene would like input from members on additional information or
links that can be added to the suite. The possible goal here is that the
site could offer "one stop shopping" for ham related items for club members
(and non club members alike). Any thoughts about what can be added? Please
e-mail Gene at kc2wdz at arrl.net . On behalf of the club I would also like to
thank Ron, KA2BZS for his work in developing the original ETS Club Website.
Ron will be working with Gene on the new site.
April Meeting - QSL Card Night:
The April Meeting (4/29/2011) will feature a presentation By Barry Cohen,
K2JV on the QSL Card collection of Joe Painter, W2BHM (SK). This collection
includes some very early post WW2 cards including recent research into the
operators and locations. Our Vice President, Tim, AB2ZK has viewed this
presentation and advises that it is very interesting and entertaining.
Anyone who would like to bring along any interesting, unique or rare QSL
cards to the meeting are encouraged to do so. Please join us on what will be
a very entertaining evening - all are welcome!
Show & Tell:
Anyone who would like to take the lead on show and tell for an upcoming
meeting - please raise your hand! Some ideas discussed were - boat anchors,
new leading edge (just released) rigs, keys, Digital Modes - you name it! We
have full capabilities at the meeting place with power supplies, VHF/UHF/HF
(yes HF) rigs and antennas to go with them. Anyone with any thoughts / idea
/ equipment - let me know.
220 Repeater:
As per my previous e-mail message the 220 machine is back on the air. Thanks
to the hard work of W2WIQ, KB2LLM, K2KGG and KC2WDZ (and many others) the
machine should have Voice over IP (VOIP) capability via Asterisk / Allstar
link and Echolink possibly as early as this coming Sunday. Please tune in
the 220 machine (223.960) for updates - a Pl tone of 110.9 may be necessary
in the future - currently there is no pl tone required to access the
machine. Remember - "use it or lose it".
That's all for now - please do not hesitate to contact me with any
questions
or comments or suggestions.
Until next time.
73,
Joe
W2OZO
