Folks,

Those of you who aren't thrilled about trucking all the way to Goshen NY, don't be discouraged. Our very own Bruce, KC2PBJ in his capacity as the Middlesex RACES coordinator along with Marshall, KB2ZLA , Asst. Middlesex County Skywarn Coordinator is working with Mt. Holly NWS staff to arrange Skywarn training at the Middlesex County Fire Academy ( same location as the ham classes) in the fall. Bruce will advise when the details are confirmed.

Subject: NWS Adds An Advanced Level SKYWARN Spotter Class to Their 2010 Schedule - Goshen NY

>From the NNJ ARES - 73 de N2DV

In addition to the 2 NNJ Section Basic Level SKYWARN Spotter Training Classes being offered in June (Mahwah, Bergen County NJ on June 8 and Westfield, Union County On June 15) the NWS Upton NY has added an Advanced Level SKYWARN Spotter Class in our neighboring Section, Eastern New York...the where, the when and the how to register info are all below....

NOTE: the Advanced Level SKYWARN Classes are offered regionally, and not as often as the Basic Classes...so don't miss this somewhat unique opportunity, not to far away to take this Class...also note, that you must be a current (trained within the last 3 years) SKYWARN Spotter to take the Advanced Class...and like the Basic Classes...Pre-Registration is REQUIRED....full details below!

If you are already a currently trained (you have attended a class within the last 3 years) Basic Level NWS SKYWARN Spotter, you can take the now scheduled Advanced Level SKYWARN Class to be held in Goshen, Orange County NY on June 29 2010...NOTE: This class will begin promptly at 6:30 PM!

The Advanced Class on June 29th will be at:
The Orange County Department of Emergency Services
22 Wells Farm Road
Goshen, NY 10924

Taking either a Basic or Advanced Level SKYWARN Spotter Training Class is required at least once every 3 to keep updated on new items, and to keep you on the Roster (in the Database) of NWS Trained Spotters.

To Register (Pre-registration is REQUIRED for all NWS Upton NY SKYWARN Spotter Classes) for the Advanced Class in Orange County or any other local/regional SKYWARN Class, offered by the NWS Upton NY please go here:

More information on all area SKYWARN Spotter Training Classes offered by the NWS Upton NY, including links to maps, etc is available here

NOTE: if you take your initial Training at the Mahwah (June 8) or Westfield (June 15) Class...that will qualify you to also take the Advanced Class noted above on June 29!
