Hello All,

>From the NNJ ARES - 73 de N2DV

The NWS Upton NY has scheduled 2 Basic Level SKYWARN Spotter Training Classes in the ARRL NNJ Section.
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/okx/Skywarn/spottertraining2010.html

June 8 2010 - 7:00 to 10:00 PM
Bergen County NJ Law and Public Safety Institute
281 Campgaw Road
Mahwah, NJ

June 15 2010 - 7:00 to 10:00 PM
Westfield NJ :Police Department
300 North Avenue East
Westfield, NJ

Advance Registration is REQUIRED for both of these Classes and is available via an online WebForm at:
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/okx/skywarn_form.php

Please note, there is no requirement that you must attend a Class in your county of residence, or even within the NWS County Warning Area where you reside. These classes are open to all, no matter where they reside and are offered Free Of Charge by the NWS. Also, there is no requirement that a Spotter be an amateur radio operator (FYI...about 40% of the 280,000 Spotter nationwide are amateur radio operators), so please circulate this information to any one you fee might be interested.

At this time, these are the only classes/SKYWARN Training opportunities to be offered in the ARRL NNJ Section....so don't miss out no matter which of the 12 NNJ Section counties you reside or work in!

REMEMBER...both the NWS Upton NY (covering Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union Counties) and the NWS Mt Holly NJ (covering Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Warren Counties) require all NWS Trained Spotters to retrain at least once every 3 years in order to remain on the NWS Active Spotter lists.
