Florence Newman Power EWING - Florence Newman Power, 86, died on Saturday,
Dec. 19, 2009, at her residence. Born in Bayonne, Mrs. Power was a resident
of Ewing for the past 41 years. She entered Cooper Union College when she
was 15 years old on a scholarship and graduated with a degree in fine arts.
Her former employment included manager of her family department store,
engineer at Western Electric, professional dress maker, purchasing agent for
the New Jersey Department of Treasury, and director of procurement for the
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Mrs. Power was the former
matron of Fidelility Link Order of the Golden Chain, a Ham Radio operator,
and a member of Har Sinai Temple. Mother of the late Joseph Sell, and wife
of the late Louis Sell and John Power, she is survived by her
daughter-in-law, Maeve Sell of Levittown, PA; two stepsons and their wives,
William and Noel Power of Ewing, and David and Nancy Power of Pocono Pine,
PA, and six stepgrandchildren. Funeral services are on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at
Orland's Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Rd., Ewing Townshp. Burial
will follow at Ewing Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be offered to Har
Sinai Temple, 2411 Pennington Rd., Pennington, NJ 08534.
