Hi,
Had a nice qso on the Maritime Mobile Net, 14.300MHz., this morning with John, WA2C, and Wes, K2TZ, who is already there with him. I think Marty, WB2BEW, and Gerry, N2GJ tried to reach him, and either he was doing breakfast or just stopped listening, but they didn't hear him. John was off the coast of Tarpon Springs, FL, and ETA Dunedin, FL roughly before 1430Z.
Anybody listening should check to see if he went up 5 or 10 kHz., to work somebody. We first went down to 14.295, and found it occupied, but up, 14.305 or 14.310MHz., was clear. Conditions did start to change from very good copy on John, to declining, as we ended the qso. He started to fade as we got to the end.
He claims there are no IRLP rptrs. near where he is now, but is expecting to try the IRLP machine on Marathon Island in the Florida Keys, this coming weekend, "weather permitting". I would call that a reference to the weather they encounter between where they are now, and their progress down to the keys by this weekend.
73,
Dennis, W2IU
