I don't know all the tech details, but this is one cool lightning
generator! He says the transformer has 10kv at the primary, and there's
approximately 400 kv at the secondary. All I know is there are lots of
turns around that vertical tube! He says the capacitors are small and
powerful and relatively inexpensive because they are ubiquitous in plasma
TVs now. One of the folks at the party mentioned that stuff like that would
never be allowed in the typical school science fair anymore. Just too
dangerous, I guess! Man, the thing makes ozone pretty well, too....

Tom says he had a ham license back when he was in high school but I don't
think he remembers what his callsign was. Got get him back in the hobby!
We need craftsmanship like this building radidios! He has a nice-looking SW
receiver (don't know the brand) and what looked to be maybe a 20 meter
dipole.<G>
