Hello all,

This is from Radio Reference SWL forum - 73 N2DV

R St Helena Day (RSD) 2009
Adapted from the NASWA Notes column in the October NASWA Journal by Rich
D'Angelo;

>From Robert Kipp we learn that Radio St.Helena Day (RSD) 2009 will be on
Saturday 14 November with the following schedule for this year's Party On
the Air (all times are UTC);
    * 2000-2100 to India/SE Asia
    * 2100-2200 to Japan/Asia
    * 2200-2330 to Europe
    * 2330-0100 to North/Central America/Caribbean

All transmissions will be on 11092.5 USB. There is a newly designed RSD
2009 QSL ard sponsored by the Japan SW Club. To get a QSL from Radio
St.Helena, you must send a written and verifiable reception report by
airmail and include sufficient return postage. Email reports will not be
verified and recordings will not be returned. In Euro countries, include 5
Euros; for others 3 US Dollars will be required to cover the postage
costs. Reports should be sent to Radio St. Helena, P.O. Box 93, Jamestown
St Helena STHL 1ZZ South Atlantic Ocean (via United Kingdom and
Ascension). EMails and phone calls from DXers everywhere are very welcome
during the broadcasts. A special email address for RSD 2009 is
radio.announcements4669(at)msn.com (all in lower case). Robert notes "Gary
Walters and his team at Radio St. Helena wish everyone excellent listening
conditions, hope that you enjoy the programming and that the sunspots will
be kinder to us this year"

Unfortunately this station continues using really bad transmission times
to the Americas - the East will be in full darkness, which is going to
make hearing it difficult. Best to try for the earlier transmissions.

QSLs can be very slow to come from St.Helena, as many DXers have reported.
As I understand it, supply and mail ships stop at St.Helena only a couple
of times a year. They do come eventually though.

Good luck to everyone who tries for this one! Remember it only happens
once a year. 73 Mike
