Thanks to Ed KE2MM's generosity, I now have a barely-used DLINK Wireless-N
router connected -- it's giving me a "Good" signal back here, about 54 mbps
it says on my laptop's system tray wifi icon. That's compared to 5.5 mbps
before...not too shabby! 10x improvement (ok, some math person will
probably write with 42 reasons why that's not correct!)!
Ed told me he got a FIOS wifi router when they set up his Verizon system, so
the router was surplus. I had to change a few settings in the router to get
it working, but it was pretty easy.
I want to thank everyone who responded with great ideas for solving my
predicament. I got an education in wifi range extension, for sure!
73 and everyone have a GREAT week!
