Subject: [cwops] Please report clicky/dirty CW in CQWWCW

If you hear clicky or other bad CW in this weekend's CQWWCW, make note of it (time, frequency, callsign, if possible a snapshot of spectrum/waterfall) and report it to the CQWW Committee as K1AR notes below.

** Ensure your signal quality is clean. Most modern rigs allow for rise/fall time adjustments to their CW waveform. It's advised that everyone's setting should be at 6ms or longer.*

** Operators noticing dirty/clicky CW this weekend should take pictures of spectrum/waterfalls, make note of frequency, callsign, and time, and pass these details to us via the CQWW Contact Form ( https://cqww.com/contact ( https://cqww.com/contact ) ). Our SDR team will be prioritizing the investigation of dirty signals this year.*

I want to add, the unmodded FT1000MKV, famous for destroying the bands with horrible keyclicks, has 1ms rise/2ms fall. Some modern rigs with config settings for rise/fall can be set (indeed, may have been shipped from the factory) as short as 1ms or 2ms rise/fall on their CW sigs - which is just as bad as an unmodded FT1000MKV. W8JI has some really great web pages on FT1000MKV mods at https://www.w8ji.com/ft1000mk_v.htm and keyclicks in general at https://www.w8ji.com/what_causes_clicks.htm and https://www.w8ji.com/keyclicks.htm.
