The ARRL newsletter reports the end of an era, the end of the line for
the Radio Amateur Callbook. In 1997 we saw the end of the paper
version that looked like a telephone book that we had all been used to
having around our hamshack. Now the CD-ROM version will be
discontinued effective with the winter, 2003, edition (that hits the
streets in November). Publisher Bob Hughes says "Due to accessibility
to the FCC database via the internet, sales have declined to levels
that make it unprofitable to publish future editions." The Callbook
began publishing in 1920.
