[Rover] DC/DC chargers

I'm still working out my battery/power system here. I was thinking, rather
than replacing my alternator, how about using a DC/DC current limiting 
battery charger? That way I could keep my stock alternator and still be
able to charge the batteries while driving between sites. I'm curious to see
if other people have taken this approach.
