Hi Dan,
I reecommend a minivan...one with vertical doors on the back,
so you can use the rear bumper to mount a rotator/mast, and
still get in and out of the back.
I think the minivans are best all around for gas mileage, space, ease
of driving, etc. Mine is a bit cramped with all the tools, spare
parts, batteries, etc, but still room for rover-supplies, food,
water, etc. Mine is an 88 Chev Atro, on it's 2nd engine...still
going strong at 260K miles. Depending on your DC power
drain, I also recommend a heavy-duty alternator...about $179
from Mr.Alternator.com. AC also a very good idea.
