A 2 element Quad should perform similarly to a 3 element Yagi.

Personally I will stick with the Yagi for several reasons.

More robust construction.

Much faster assembly (if you make quick release element clamps)

Requires a lot less vertical height on the mast.

The quad would be nice as the parts are smaller and will fit
into the vehicle better. The Yagi elements move nicely strapped
to a roof rack with bunji cords though.

It would be cool to build a multi banded quad though that has
6m and 2m on the same boom. Still think it would be too fragile
for rovering though....
