[Rover] QUADZILLA is DEAD! ! !

Well ports fans the Quadzilla antenna project has came to a "crashing" end.

Got it up in the air yesterday and all looked well as it heard good and
worked OK, SWR at 1.3:1 on the lower end of 6.

However while outside this morning, cleaning up the construction scraps from
yesterday I heard a fatefull "pop" looked up to see the back two elements
pointing towards the sky. As I tried to get tools to take it bown I heard
another "pop" as the rotator section of mast failed and the entire antenna
came crashing down in the yard.

Began some dismantling and salvage work before returning to work 3 of 4 wood
spreader are toothpicks, all of the elements busted at the solder joints so
I can save some of the parts of them.

Hopefully since today is payday I might be ordering a commercial beam to get
on the air thru winter as the wife even said why not buy a antenna since
this one crashed and burned.

I figure I put to much faith in the Radio Shack mast I was using for a boom
and rotator mast section. ANTENNA WAS TO HEAVY! ! !
