Jacob,
Having never made a 6M J-pole, and never out of 300 ohm twin lead; I
can't say exactly where to start; but, I have built several of them for
2M from 450 ladder line.
I would suggest just starting with a 1/4 wavelength for one side, and a
5/8 wavelength for the other side. Then just adjust the feedline tap
point up or down slightly beginning about 3 inches from the bottom
shorting section. I suspect it will have to move up at least a couple of
more inches to get a good match.
