[Rover] Antenna mounting question

When mounting loop antennas (looking towards M2 loops) using a 3/8x24 stud 
base for the mast, I see the offered monster magnetic base but was wondering 
about using a trunk-lip based mount instead???  I just have a distrust of a 
big $100.00 loop being held down with magnets.

Also looking into trailer hitch mount as the car has a hitch mount already on 
it but it is one of the flat bar type but still looking and thinking as I 
found out a friend of mine just got a new welder!!!  ;-)

My wife has laid down the law as to NO HOLES IN THE NEW/USED CAR! However 
trunk-lip or magnetic mounts are OK, all is fair in love and antenna 
mounting.
