[Rover] IC-706 MK2 spikes / amplifier

Anyone have any comments on the "spike" at full power that a 706 Mk2 =
puts out for the first few milliseconds even when the power control is =
turned down?

I need a 432 brick and the comment has come up several times not to use =
a lower power input with the power out on the 706 turned down, because =
the spike hits the amp at full power at first, possibly damaging, etc. =20

I need to pick up a mirage or TE, etc for 432 to use rovering.  This is =
how the conversation came up again.


I have not heard this come up in a few years, just wondered if this was =
still an issue.
