Radio Shack is not the same place we grew up with. They are now a gadget store focusing on plug & play consumers. most of the sales help are clueless on any electronics!

  Generally I don't have a problem finding electronic parts in 
RadioShack except in Los Alamos,New Mexico.I'm not sure how those 
folks can call themselves an electronics store!!!
