ok I need to bounce some ideas across some of the radio heads and ham
people. yesterday I wound up with one of the worlds best scanner
antinieas it used to be the vhf radio antenna for the sheriffs office on
top of a huge tower but the wind and ice storm we had the other day mad
the top part of the tower come apart sending antennas flying. well I
helped a friend of mine take it apart and rebuild it I got the long
antenna the sheriff's use. IT is about 8 fee long maybe long and
straight up the bottom part is made out of metal. then it goes into eh
antenna which is fiber glass. there is a crack at the top of the antenna
which he said doesn't hurt the receive just would need some repairing to
make it transmit but has he said heck you have a great scanner ataniea
I need some mounting ideas. I was think using a brackit and put it right
against the house but with the small over hang that wont work . I have
a flat shed roof so I thought maybe a tri pod but afraid that would blow
over with the wind . or be off weight with he height of it I want to get
it has high has I can. I know when I got on top of the shed the girl
friend said we were picking up billings airport which is over 100 mile s
away. I want ti up high so I can receive a long ways away. one radio
place I was talking to in twon was like why would youw ant to recive so
far away. I guess some people just dont get us scanner people.
