Hello all, some of you will get duplicate email, pardon me for that.
Anyway, this will be our very first official Hospital Call Out where the
hospitals will not be taking part. I coordinated this event with the MMRS,
which is a monthly meeting of all the hospital representatives in the Tucson
Metro area, and those listed on the PC RACES website. They are expecting us
to activate the radios and know we will be there at least by 13:00 hrs
Saturday, 20 May 2009 to do our monthly training, and stay until the
training is complete. I have posted the latest updated Hospital Contacts
list on the PC RACES website. You have to log in to access it. As soon as
you log in you will notice the menu item at the very top on the right,
labeled Hospital Call Out.
I reviewed the slides that Chuck Michels KB7RFI briefed at the training we
had in January this year and noticed that he suggested to have teams of at
least 6 people. The reason for this is that when we have the BIG one we
will most likely have to cover the hospitals 24/7 which means 8 hour shifts
with 2 operators to a shift. Obviously the more operators we have per
hospital the easier and more efficient we will be, and have more breaks. So
for those of you live near a particular hospital will volunteer to be
available for ANY hospital, this will help tremendously. I have already had
several folks volunteer to be available for ANY hospital. As you look at
the list you will notice some of the teams still need help even to have 4
members, much less the goal of 6 or more. You will also notice the
hospitals that have quite a few more than needed.
As I said in an email before the last exercise in May, that obviously the
reason to be available for the hospital nearest you is for a quicker
response time. However, this is just not possible given the demographics we
have and the hospitals we have agreed and are mandated to support.
I primarily want to make sure we have a good inventory of each hospital. I
will be a little more organized this time, at least I plan to, and I will do
my best to document as each hospital calls in what their inventory is.
Attached you will find what I have put together for an inventory. As we
progress the inventory at each hospital will be updated and be ready when
needed.
If you have any suggestions or questions, please feel free to call or email
me. It is truly an honor and pleasure to lead professionals such as you in
this most important endeavor.
