The RA17 original spec sheet listed the RA73 as a "small crystal controlled
converter (that) enables auxiliary equipment with a 400-500 kHz input to be
used with the RA17 receiver".
>From what I have been able to glean, there was an RA73,73A,73B,73C and 73D
manufactured.Rinus Jansen's The Racal Handbook mentions 73D as being "a
simple two valve converter using one 6AU6 and one 6AS6 to convert the
standard 455 kHz IF signal [of another make of receiver] down to 100 kHz
with the aid of a 355 kHz crystal oscillator [to drive an RA218 ISB
adaptor?].The book also says,"Converting from 100 kHz to 455 kHz was also
possible with the RA73C"
This leaves the 73A and 73B with no explanation.
Has anyone got any info at all about these elusive adaptors?Of course,I will
offer my first born for a copy of ANY manual that exists and if that doesn't
attract, then filthy lucre will have to suffice!!! :-)
Regards to all,Brian Goldsmith.
